Frequently Asked Questions
Our Frequently Asked Questions section provides answers to common inquiries about our services, ensuring that individuals have access to the information they need in a clear and concise manner.
01. How does psychotherapy work?
Psychotherapy includes a number of different types of treatment approaches. Each one uses techniques intended to help you increase self awareness and potentially make changes in behavior. Each psychotherapist develops their own style informed by their respective lived experience and professional training. Psychotherapy is typically held weekly for 50 minutes sessions.
02. What can I discuss in therapy?
Anything can be discussed in therapy. We believe in a client centered approach in which we partner with you to work on your goals.
03. Do your providers have knowledge of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ or other marginalized groups?
All of our therapists provide culturally affirming therapy. Regardless of their personal background, every therapist at the practice engages in ongoing training and supervision to provide the highest quality of care. At MZMA, we provide care with an affirming, intersectional, inclusive, and anti-oppressive lens.
04. Do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes. Each provider at the practice maintains a certain number of reduced rate slots for those who need them. You can always reach out and ask us if there is any availability!
05. Do you take insurance and how does it work?
Our team currently accepts Cigna and Aetna.
We are out of network with other insurances. This means that your insurance company will reimburse you directly after you’ve met your deductible. We are able to work with your out-of-network benefits for most major insurance companies.
If you have questions about using your out of network benefits, feel free to contact us.
06. Is therapy in person or virtual?
At this time all therapy is virtual, conducted through a HIPAA secure telehealth platform.
