Megan Walsh, MHC-LP
My mission is to create a safe, inclusive space where individuals feel seen, heard, and empowered. I strive to connect with clients in effective and meaningful ways, fostering growth and understanding on their journey toward well-being and breaking free from the enduring cycles of trauma. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I am passionate about addressing the unique challenges of intersectionality and advocating for those who are underserved or misunderstood.
I have experience within private practice, residential inpatient, and school-based settings where I had the privilege of working alongside individuals of all ages presenting with mild to severe psychological disorders. This includes; Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder, individuals navigating the LGBTQ+ community, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and individuals experiencing difficulties with life transitions. I strive to create a client-led working relationship emphasizing comfort, autonomy, and predictability. I subscribe to an eclectic lens of therapeutic approaches which consists of Cognitive Behavioral, Trauma-Informed Care, Psychodynamic, and Strengths-Based principles. I also enjoy integrating mindfulness and the mind-body connection through various individualized coping mechanisms and look forward to working alongside any individual to overcome life’s challenges. Following sessions, clients frequently express a heightened understanding of their own experiences, leading to greater self-acceptance and a renewed drive to make positive changes in their lives.
During my free time, I enjoy creating and consuming expressive music, connecting with friends, and baking. I find that maintaining an appropriate level of self-care has increased my efficacy as a counselor and I enjoy prioritizing that balance in my personal life as well as within my work with clients.
